Transportation
While you certainly don't need a car to travel in Germany (or, indeed, most of Europe), should you choose to rent a car while on your stay, the one rental company that I personally endorse is Enterprise Rent-A-Car, which has offices in Germany. I have only rented from them in the United States, but I can say without hesitation that after my first experience with them, I would never even consider another car rental company: their pricing is very competetive and their service is superb compared to the other companies I have rented from (Alamo, Avis, and Hertz). Enterprise also has offices in many locations throughout Germany, with one in Munster, as well.
Travel by train in Europe is obviously a very popular means of getting around. Euro Railways has an easy-to-use interface, with a sample round-trip fare from Frankfurt to Munster (Bahnhof) running about 160€.
