The Opel 6700A 3-ton medium truck (Mittlerer Geländegängiger Lastkraftwagen 3t Opel Blitz 3,6 6700A) met the military’s need for a cargo vehicle with improved mobility. The 6700A had 4-wheel drive, had a bigger fuel tank, and was heavier than standard 3-ton vehicles. It as powered by a 68hp water-cooled gasoline engine.

Both the standard and “A” variant Opel trucks were fitted with a variety of different bodies, depending on the purpose of the vehicle. Roughly 25,000 A-version vehicles were built from 1940 to 1944, and they acquitted themselves well from the sands of North Africa to the mud of the Russian spring.
